I just hit “send” on the best email of the year: notifying students that they have been awarded a 2013 Pride Foundation scholarship. In this moment, I am struck by how fortunate we are to be able to invest in each of the scholar’s lives and their sense of hope for the world. Through the generous support from our community, these scholars’ dreams, that once may have been unimaginable, are now possible.
Thanks so very much to all of our volunteers and supporters for making this program possible—this year, 320 volunteers donated 4,700 hours, reading more than 600 applications and interviewing amazing candidates from across the region. Your voice, knowledge, time, and expertise are essential to ensure that our scholarship program thrives here at Pride Foundation. Again, thank you.
We are so honored to celebrate this 20th anniversary of the program with you—and there is much to celebrate. Since 1993, when Pride Foundation’s Scholarship Program was established, we have awarded more than 1,700 scholarships, totaling $2.7 million. Over the next few months we will be featuring the inspiring stories of scholar alumni, volunteers, and donors to the program—please view them here. We also hope you will join us at one of our events across the region!
