3 Cool Things: Raquel Joins the Team, Meyer Memorial Trust Feature, and Emily’s Fellowship

In a world where the weight of challenges can sometimes feel overwhelming, it’s essential to find moments of light and celebration amidst the darkness. As we navigate through heavy times within our community, it’s important to pause and recognize the wins that bring us hope and joy.

With that spirit in mind, we’re excited to present another edition of “3 Cool Things,” where we highlight the inspiring developments within our community and organization.

1. We welcomed our new Communications Manager, Raquel Vincent (she/her) to the Pride Foundation team! Raquel brings a wealth of expertise in communications and marketing and her passion for social justice, mental health advocacy, and the transformative power of art and storytelling align perfectly with our mission. Please join us in giving Raquel a warm welcome and learn more about her here.

2. Meyer Memorial Trust featured Pride Foundation in their roundup of noteworthy grants from 2023! As one of the largest private funders in Oregon, Meyer Memorial Trust is dedicated to advancing racial, social, and economic justice for the collective well-being of Oregon’s lands and peoples. Our partnership with Meyer allows us to further support LGBTQ+ organizations across Oregon, fostering inclusive and thriving communities. We’re honored and humbled to be included in their highlights alongside so many other amazing organizations. You can read more about it here

3. We’re proud to share that Emily Lai (they, she, he), our Grants Program Officer, has been selected as a 2024-2025 Grantmakers United for Trans Communities (GUTC) Leadership Fellow! The GUTC Leaders Fellowship provides ongoing support, peer networking, and professional development to trans and gender-expansive professionals in philanthropy. Emily’s commitment to supporting movement building that centers the agency, healing, and joy of queer and trans BIPOC is truly inspiring. Please join us in congratulating Emily on this well-deserved recognition! Read the full announcement here

Thank you for joining us in celebrating these moments of light and hope. In the face of darkness, it’s these wins that remind us of the importance of our mission and fuel our determination to create a more equitable and inclusive Northwest.

With gratitude,

Jamila Taylor

(she/they)
