3 Cool Things: Katie Joins Funders for LGBTQ+ Issues Board, Magnetek Joins the Team, and We Celebrate Trans Day of Visibility

As we welcome the fresh blooms of spring, we’re filled with a sense of optimism and renewal. That’s why we’re delighted to bring you another edition of “3 Cool Things,” where we share some of our favorite highlights from the past month!

Katie Joins Funders for LGBTQ+ Issues Board: We’re excited to announce that CEO, Katie Carter (she/her), has joined the Board of Directors at Funders for LGBTQ Issues! Katie, along with three other new members were identified by the board’s Nominations and Governance Committee and voted into office unanimously. Congratulations Katie! 🎉 You can read the full announcement here

Magnetek Joins the Team: We recently welcomed MoHagani Magnetek (she/her) to Pride Foundation as our inaugural Senior Manager of CARE (Community Advocacy, Research, and Education). With a diverse background in anthropology, literature, and creative writing, Magnetek brings a unique perspective and expertise to Pride Foundation. We’re thrilled to have her on board! Learn more about Magnetek

We Celebrated Trans Day of Visibility: March 31st marked the 15th anniversary of Transgender Day of Visibility (TDOV) — a poignant reminder to celebrate and uplift the diverse experiences of our trans community. It’s a day that calls us to action, urging us to amplify trans voices, challenge discrimination, and strive for a more equitable society. We shared some ways to take action and honor the spirit of TDOV all year long. Check out our post on Instagram.

🎵🤠 Bonus by Bey: In other exciting news, Beyoncé released her highly anticipated 8th studio album, Cowboy Carter! This groundbreaking album transcends genres, defiantly challenging the erasure of black cowboy culture and amplifying voices too often silenced in the broader narrative of what it means to be “country”. While it may not be directly related to our work, we couldn’t resist sharing this extra dose of joy with you all.

P.S.: We recently announced our 2024 Season of Tend! Our annual fundraiser and community celebration kicks off a multi-city tour this May — check it out here and save the date!

With gratitude,
Jamila Taylor
