It’s nearly May, and the weather feels as confusing and erratic as this unpredictable COVID world we are living in. It’s in the midst of all this that we wanted to pause and focus on some cool things happening across the Northwest—and the stability and consistency that comes from community.
Just a few cool things for your Thursday:
- Now more than two years into the pandemic, we finally have some comprehensive data on how COVID-19 has affected LGBTQ+ families and communities. While we have long known and understood the impact on our communities, more quality data means we now have a more comprehensive picture of what LGBTQ+ people are facing—and how we can show up best for our communities. Check out our latest data roundup on our blog.
- I was thrilled to join the brilliant Radha Friedman for a recent episode of her Radhacal Good Podcast. Recorded back in 2020 and just released this month, this episode explores everything from what the HIV/AIDS crisis can teach us about the COVID pandemic, to the challenge of LGBTQ+ data, and so much more. I hope you have a listen!
- Two of the states we serve are gearing up for their annual statewide giving days next week, and we’re already seeing a lot of excitement surrounding the lead up! For folks in Idaho and Washington, please mark your calendars for Idaho Gives from May 2-5, and GiveBig Washington from May 3-4—whether you donate to Pride Foundation, or to another one of your favorite organizations, we hope you’ll take part in these big days of impact for our communities!
As always, there’s a lot happening at Pride Foundation and around the world, but we continue to move forward and make every effort to center care in all we do. Thank you for being in it with us.
Katie Carter is Pride Foundation CEO.
