Transgender Inclusions in Schools
We are thrilled that the Massachusetts Department of Education is making progress toward more inclusive and safe schools for transgender and gender non-conforming students by issuing this new directive. A National Strategy for Suicide Prevention
Published late last year, the National Strategy for Suicide Prevention 2012: Goals and Objectives for Action: A Report of the U.S. Surgeon General and of the National Action Alliance for Suicide Prevention outlines a national strategy to guide suicide prevention actions. The report includes a succinct overview of the unique challenges faced by the LGBTQ community starting on page 121.
Is the Nonprofit Sector Stuck??
This article sparked a lot of passionate discussion among non-profit and foundation professionals from a diverse swath of organizations – history, size, budget and mission. At its core, the message from the author is that non-profits (and foundations and those who lead both) are often stuck in habits that no longer help them meet their mission and are missing the call of leadership that includes thoughtful risk, engagement in advocacy work and innovative fundraising.
