Bobbie Zenker is one of my favorite people on the planet. She’s also a tremendous storyteller, courageous activist, and warm-hearted volunteer for Pride Foundation’s Leadership Action Team here in Montana. Best of all, she’s coming to read her powerful new book, “TransMontana” in Mount Vernon and Everett, Washington, so more of the Pride Foundation family and general public can hear her story of faith, addiction, family, and transformation.
On Saturday, March 9, Bobbie will be a special guest and panelist at the 10th Annual Skagit Human Rights Festival at Skagit Valley College’s Knutzen Cardinal Center, 2406 College Way in Mount Vernon. Lunch is at 1 p.m., followed by a film, “Faces and Facets of the Transgender Experience” at 2 p.m., and a panel featuring Bobbie, the authors of “Two Spirits: One Heart,” and Barbara Yaple from the Washington Gender Alliance. The festival is sponsored by Skagit PFLAG, SVC Rainbow Alliance, Washington Gender Alliance, and Pride Foundation. Children middle school age and up are welcome. From there, Bobbie heads to In Other Words in Portland, OR, on March 10 and then to Everett, WA on March 11 at 5:30 p.m. at Firewheel Books & Beans where she will read from “TransMontana”. Firewheel is located at 2820 Oakes Ave. Ste C.
