One Week Left: LGBTQ Scholarship Deadline is January 31

There’s just one week left to apply for a Pride Foundation scholarship.

It’s a relatively simple application process but there are a few pieces that you will need to pull together like references and transcripts so don’t wait until the last moment!

Since 1993, Pride Foundation, along with our partner, the GSBA Scholarship Program, have awarded over $4 million in scholarships to more than 1,400 students to support education and leadership development for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer (LGBTQ), and straight-ally students.

On our 20th Anniversary of supporting education in the community, isn’t it time you became a Pride Foundation Scholar?  Pride Foundation would like to encourage students of any age, sexual orientation, or gender identity/expression living or studying in Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, and Washington who are pursuing any post-secondary education (including community college, public or private colleges & universities, trade apprenticeships, or certificate programs) to apply now.

Along with our scholarship partner, the Greater Seattle Business Association, we offer 50 different scholarships, but have only one application to complete. A combined total of over $500,000 will be awarded during this scholarship cycle.

The joint application is available online at PrideFoundationScholar.org.

Register for a new account or log in using your existing account and get started today. You can return to the application as many times as you choose. While the application has several essay questions for you to mull over, there are also two letters of recommendation required to complete the application.  Make sure to give your supporters time to adequately sing your praises. The application will close on January 31, 2013 at 5:00pm PST.

Our scholarships take into account a wide variety of experiences and academic levels. All scholarships require that students be committed to LGBTQ advocacy and equal rights in their community. That can look different depending on where you are and who you are. We have straight allies who help start Gay Straight Alliances in their schools, LGBTQ students who have organized queer youth rallies, and older members of the community returning to school after fighting inequality for all their lives. Leadership can take many different forms and we encourage everyone to share their vision with us and apply now!
