A Message for Our Friend, Andrew Quainton

Over the holidays, the community and the movement lost a friend, community leader, and visionary in Andrew Quainton of Fairbanks, Alaska. Originally from Chicago, Andrew moved to Alaska nine years ago in search of a change of pace after surviving the September 11th World Trade Towers attack in 2001.  Andrew undoubtedly made Fairbanks a better place by donating his time and energy to numerous organizations, including the University of Alaska Museum—where he worked for 7 years, the Interior AIDS Association, KUAC, the Interior Democrats, the Fairbanks Concert Association, and—most recently—Pride Foundation, as a member of our statewide Leadership Team. Last August, he hosted a house party in the legendary “Pavilion” in his backyard, bringing together grantees and volunteers and introducing us to many people we now count as friends. Thank you, Andrew. You will be missed.
