From the beginning of our push to pass a local non-discrimination ordinance in Helena, MT, our steering committee (which includes Pride Foundation Leadership Action Team member, and Montana Human Rights Network board member, Bobbie Zenker) made it a priority that we include community building and social events throughout the campaign.
The overall goal has been about something greater than just passing an LGBTQ-inclusive non-discrimination policy: it’s about fostering greater community in Helena between all LGBTQ people and our allies.
The City of Helena is in the process of researching and drafting the non-discrimination ordinance, and we will have new updates for our supporters this month. We are expecting this ordinance to come to a vote in early fall.
We’d like to invite you, Montana’s LGBTQ community and our allies, to a barbecue party on Thursday, July 19 at the Lewis and Clark Fairgrounds as a way to bring our supporters together and have some fun! We’ll have an update on the ordinance campaign and talk about ways supporters can be more involved going into the fall.
We’ll provide the basics for food, and beverages. You are encouraged to bring a dish to share. All supporters of LGBTQ equality are welcome to attend. Donations are encouraged, but not required.
