Qurat relocated to the Pacific Northwest at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic after previously living on the East Coast. She once aspired to become a jurisprudence professor, but her path shifted 15 years ago while navigating her own immigration case. That experience sparked a lasting commitment to addressing the complexities of the legal system and systemic racism. As a queer refugee, she is deeply dedicated to advocating for gender justice and LGBTQIA+ rights.
Today, Qurat serves in a shared leadership role at a nonprofit law organization focused on promoting justice and gender liberation across the Northwest region.
