Kylie has spent her career working at the intersection of community organizing and philanthropy, which means she spends a lot of time trying to ask good questions and doing her best to move money where it’s needed most. She is currently the Director of a Montana-based foundation. Prior to that, she worked with other Montana-based nonprofits.
Before moving back to her home state of Montana in 2016, Kylie spent a few years in Washington state attending university and working at a social justice foundation. During her time there, Kylie staffed Giving Projects where community members worked together to build a shared political analysis and decide how funds should be distributed. Sitting in grant deliberation meetings cemented her belief that democratizing philanthropy is one of many practical ways to redistribute and share power.
She’s fallen in love with Pride Foundation’s “Who You Are, Where You Are” campaign, which affirmed something she’s always felt to be true: identity and place both matter, especially in her home state of Montana. She wants to help make every community safer and more welcoming for the LGBTQ2S people who want to stay rooted in the place they love.
Kylie has spent more than 15 years in nonprofit work, learning that trust takes time, relationships matter more than logic models, and a good spreadsheet can bring a lot of joy. She’s grateful to do work that connects people with, that she gets to live in a beautiful place with her partner, that she has a new puppy (Judy), and that her older puppy (Judge), will adjust soon.
