Community is at the heart of everything we do at Pride Foundation. It’s this value—and the recognition that community loses its meaning if it does not include all of us—that helped us make the decision to postpone The Equity Awards scheduled on March 21st in Portland.
As the reality of COVID-19 changes from day to day, we are all navigating unfamiliar terrain with rapidly evolving information in the Northwest, nationally, and around the world. Even though this uncertainty seems to be our new reality, we know the most important thing we can do is to take precautions and not risk spreading the virus—that is our shared responsibility to everyone in our communities.
There is little we know about what the next year will bring, but we do know that your support will make more of an impact than ever—for Pride Foundation, and for all of the scholars and grantees that rely on our funding year after year.
This is especially true for Pride Foundation grantees whose financial and overall wellbeing will be most impacted by COVID-19—organizations supporting LGBTQ+ older adults, those doing anti-bias work, those supporting Asian and Pacific Islander communities, those serving LGBTQ+ youth experiencing homelessness, and those supporting people living with HIV/AIDS.
All tickets and tables that have been purchased will be transferred to the rescheduled event. We have not yet set a new date for The Equity Awards, but we will reach out as soon as we do. We want to express our gratitude to the hardworking and dedicated volunteers, table hosts, and sponsors who have all continued to support this event, and our work throughout the year.
And thank you—you are the incredible community at the heart of all we do. You keep this work moving forward, and you give us hope that, together, we can overcome anything.
