Our Programs
Working with people of all backgrounds throughout the Pacific Northwest, Pride Foundation promotes philanthropy and provides leadership in the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community. Through grants and scholarships, as a convener and a resource to people and organizations, Pride strengthens our community and our organizations. Pride Foundation is well positioned to work across communities and to educate about the experiences, needs and strengths that exist within the LGBT community.
Pride Foundation achieves its mission through grantmaking, grassroots activism and community organizing.
- Our grants program funds a variety of LGBT nonprofit organizations in our region. Each year we award grants to more than 60 organizations of all sizes—from small grassroots organizations that you might never have heard of, to established leaders in our community. Since our first grants in 1987, we have funded more than 500 organizations in the Northwest. See the complete list here.
- Recognizing the tremendous financial need of LGBT and straight ally students in our region, Pride Foundation began our scholarship program to help develop tomorrow's leaders that work for social justice. Since 1993 we have helped more than 400 students achieve their educational goals.
- Institutionalized prejudice in companies affects the entire workforce. In 1997, Pride Foundation began its shareholder activism program to help gain protections and equality for LGBT people in their workplaces. Learn more about this unique program here.
-
Realizing that LGBT people living in different areas face unique challenges, Pride Foundation began our regional community organizing, which brings resources and visibility to LGBT people and organizations all over our region. The challenges faced by LGBT people in rural areas are vastly different than those living in large urban centers. Pride Foundation’s community organizing recognizes that people who live in any given area are the experts about the needs of their community and puts the decision-making in their hands.
